AI exposure measures do not predict who will lose a job

The ILO explains why tasks that AI could automate are not the same as jobs that employers will remove.

AI exposure measures estimate where AI capabilities overlap with a job's tasks. They do not directly measure whether an employer will adopt a tool, whether the change makes economic sense, or how demand for that occupation will respond.

Comparisons also differ across studies. Some focus on language-based software while others look more broadly at cognitive, social and physical demands.

RoleOak takeaway: treat exposure as a reason to examine your tasks and develop new skills, not as an individual redundancy prediction.
