ROLEOAK ANALYSIS

What these numbers really mean

Work is made of tasks. Start there.

The ILO's 2025 global study estimated that one in four workers were in occupations with some exposure to generative AI. That is an estimate of exposure to AI capability, not one in four jobs disappearing.

A report that estimates future job growth or decline is making a different kind of claim. For example, the World Economic Forum's 2030 jobs outlook covers several forces, including technology, demographics, economic change and the green transition. It must not be presented as an AI-only forecast.

For an individual, a better question is which parts of the working week may change, which still require human responsibility and what skills would help them adapt.

Explore how AI might affect your tasks

List the tasks you do in a normal week, the hours each takes, and your own estimate of how much of each task AI could help with.

Calculated in your browser. Your answers are not submitted to RoleOak.

Example values are shown to demonstrate the calculation. They are assumptions, not researched occupation scores. Replace them with your own work.

Estimated AI-assistable share of your tasks

32.5%

Equivalent task-hours involving potential AI support

13.0 of 40.0 hrs/week

How the formula works

For every task: task hours × your AI-assistance estimate ÷ 100. Add those assisted hours, then divide by your total task hours to get the percentage.

Important: This is not the probability of losing a job, time saved, or a forecast of replacement. AI assistance can still require human review, responsibility and judgement. The result changes when you change your assumptions.
